Tom Lynch says he’s eager to put an injury-ravaged 2014 behind him.
Lynch, 24, managed just eight games in what was a frustrating year for the 2013 Club leading goalkicker.
The dynamic utility battled foot, shoulder and jaw injuries and finished the season in a neck brace following a scary collision in Adelaide’s Round 20 clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.
“It was very unlucky,” Lynch said of his stop-start 2014 campaign.
“But I’ve put all that behind me now. I’m enjoying the fact that I’m injury-free and having a good pre-season.
“Everyone has put last year behind us, and I wasn’t the only one that had unlucky injuries.
“I’m really looking forward to coming into games now, as all the boys are.”
Despite the interruptions, Lynch showed glimpses of his best when fit last year.
He was Adelaide’s match-winner with 25 possessions and two goals in his first full game of the season against the Bulldogs in Round Six.
Lynch also played important roles in the Club’s wins over Port Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney in the second half of the year.
Season 2015 looks a perfect time for a fresh start for the 191cm utility, with a new coach, captain and CEO guiding the Crows forward, and Lynch hoped his on-field versatility would help him thrive under Phil Walsh’s game plan.
“One of Phil’s questions that he puts on the boys is making sure you’ve got that part of the package to be able to play in various positions,” Lynch said.
“We’ve got multiple guys who can play in various positions, and I’m no different.”
Lynch said it was great strength for the Club to have so many adaptable players on its roster, and the effects were already being felt on the training track.
“There’s going to be some competition for spots and everyone is putting their best foot forward,” he said.
“Everyone is open to fill any role which benefits the team.”
Adelaide plays its first NAB Challenge game at Port Lincoln against North Melbourne on Sunday, March 1.
