Patrick Dangerfield won’t require scans after sustaining a knock to his knee in Adelaide’s win over Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.
Dangerfield was helped from the ground by trainers after hurting his left knee in the dying stages of his team’s 16-point win. The star midfielder is sore, but expected to play against West Coast at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Two-time Club Champion Scott Thompson is also a good chance to line up against the Eagles. Thompson was a late withdrawal from the Crows team on Sunday because of back/hamstring tightness. The injury ended his run of 99 consecutive AFL matches. Thompson will increase his training load this week with the aim of being fit to take on West Coast.
Exciting forward Charlie Cameron will make his return from a groin complaint either in the SANFL or AFL this weekend. Cameron hasn’t played since Round 12 because of lingering soreness. Young midfielder Sam Kerridge, who has missed the past month, is also hoping to make his comeback from a foot injury this week. Ruckman Shaun McKernan (groin) was a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s SANFL team on Saturday. He’ll face a fitness test late in the week.
Defender Kyle Hartigan has been released from hospital after suffering a fractured rib and internal bleeding in a marking contest during the third quarter of the Club’s SANFL clash with Port Magpies on Saturday. He will recuperate at home for a few days before seeing a specialist.
Forward Lewis Johnston (hand) is aiming to return to the field before the end of the season. Captain Nathan van Berlo also remains optimistic of playing in 2014 and is joining in select training drills with the main group.
The Crows will hold an open training session at Adelaide Oval on Friday, August 1, from about 10:00am. The session will run up to one hour.
