Adelaide’s SANFL clash with Norwood at The Parade will go ahead on Friday night as planned.
The SANFL Crows will only have a five-day break between games after the Club’s scheduled Saturday night match against South Adelaide was postponed until Sunday morning following issues with the lights at Noarlunga. It was the second straight week Adelaide’s SANFL game was affected by lighting issues after a blackout in the last quarter forced a draw between the Crows and Glenelg the week prior.
AFL Players Association regulations stipulate players must have a minimum of a six-day break between games, meaning the Crows had to seek permission from the AFLPA to field AFL players, who lined up against South Adelaide, in the clash with the Redlegs.
Crows General Manager of Football Administration Phil Harper said the Club would carefully manage all of its players, particularly the younger ones.
“We have sought and received the relevant approval from the AFL Players’ Association, which has also contacted the SANFL,” Harper said.
“The Club had to gain approval as it is against AFL rules to have listed-players play on less than a six-day break. Player welfare is always at the forefront our minds and we look forward to playing on Friday night.”
The match, which is part of the local league's Multicultural Round, will start at 7:40pm at Coopers Stadium (Norwood). Ticketed Crows members receive free entry to all of the Club’s SANFL games.
