Adelaide’s first-year players will join the competition’s brightest new talents at Etihad Stadium on Monday as part of the AFLPA AFL Induction Camp.
Crows draftees Jake Lever, Harrison Wigg, Mitch McGovern and Harry Dear along with rookies Reilly O’Brien, Keenan Ramsey and Anthony Wilson will join over 100 new faces to be welcomed into the AFL system.
The camp, entering its 15th year will see draftees briefed on a number of topics including the importance of wellbeing, career development, financial education, personal brand, respectful relationships and anti-doping codes.
The meet is an important educational opportunity as part of the players’ transition into the world of professional sport.
"I think we used to talk to a lot of players about what they can't do, whereas now we really want to empower players and get them to understand the opportunities that an AFL career provides are exceptional, and to make the most of that," AFLPA GM of player development Brett Johnson said.
"(Research) suggests that if you get that part of your life right it will help you on the field as well.
"That's a lot of what today's about, taking control of your career and your profession."
Olympic Gold Medallist Steven Bradbury will be a keynote speaker at the camp.
The players will also be invited to a panel discussion featuring recently retired duo Luke Ball and Lenny Hayes alongside Hawthorn premiership player Matt Spangher.
