A minute of applause will take place at the end of Showdown XXXIX to celebrate the life of Phil Walsh.

At the conclusion of the game, the winning club’s theme song won’t be played. Instead, both teams will gather for the presentation of the Showdown Trophy and Medal after which the minute’s applause will be held as a final mark of respect to Walsh.

It’s one of several joint initiatives that will occur at and around Sunday’s match, which is a Port Adelaide ‘home’ game. On a day when Walsh’s legacy to football will be recognised, the Power’s usual home-game activities will incorporate the Crows.

On ground, both teams will enter as one and meet in the Southern goal square before running through a joint banner. Each club’s theme songs will then be played as the teams complete their final warm-ups. Just prior to the bounce, a special version of “Never Tear Us Apart” will be played on the big screens to honour Walsh’s time at both clubs.

Port Adelaide has issued an invite to all Crows supporters to join them on their March from the Mall prior to the game. Fans without a ticket to the sold-out game can watch the match from a live site in Elder Park.

Three big screens in the Riverbank Precinct will broadcast the game live. The Channel 7 coverage will start with a special episode of ‘The Crows Show’ at 1:30pm and continue with pre-game coverage into the opening bounce at 2:50pm. Food and beverages will be available to purchase at the site, courtesy of Fork On the Riverbank.
