Hawthorn is likely to have a near full-strength squad to choose from for Thursday night's blockbuster clash with Adelaide.

Premiership players Grant Birchall (ankle) and Paul Puopolo (foot) both trained on Monday and are tipped to squeeze back into the side that belted St Kilda by 63 points before the Round 11 bye.

Will Langford (calf) could also win a recall to further strengthen the reigning premiers’ lineup.

Midfielder Isaac Smith was confident the trio would be right in the mix come selection time.

"My guess is if they're fit, they're probably playing," Smith said of Birchall and Puopolo.

"'Langers' trained and trained pretty well and I think he played pretty well last week, so he'll be knocking down the door as well."

Hawks youngster Kaiden Brand remains the club’s only long-term injury concern after dislocating his shoulder during the NAB Challenge.

Hawthorn is currently in unfamiliar territory, sitting sixth on the ladder with a 6-4 win-loss record, but will be vying for their third successive win when they travel to Adelaide Oval.

Smith said the week off came at a good time for the Hawks to reset after a rollercoaster start to the year.

"I think it does help you reassess,” he said.

When our goal is to finish top four, we know we've got to be winning more games than we're losing, and prior to the bye we probably weren't doing that overly well.”
