Rory Laird scored the highest AFL Fantasy total of his career on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
Laird was Adelaide’s top Fantasy performer against Carlton, amassing 26 possessions, seven marks and five tackles for 110 points.
It was the first time this season Laird has reached triple figures and just the fourth Fantasy ton of his short career. His score was the fifth-best total of all pure defenders for Round 10.
The former rookie has been one of Adelaide’s most improved players this year and his Fantasy numbers confirm that claim. In the past five rounds, Laird has averaged 94 points and his overall value has climbed by nearly $100k.
His overall ownership is under two per cent across the whole competition, but expect ‘The Dos’ to feature in more Fantasy teams following Adelaide’s bye round.
Josh Jenkins was another who topped the Fantasy ton for the first time this year.
The five-goal hero notched 106 points from his handful along with 18 possessions and a team-high eight marks. It was Jenkins’ first Fantasy century since Round Nine, 2014 where he booted four goals to help sink Collingwood at Adelaide Oval.
The burly forward has played a different role this season under new coach Phil Walsh which seen his Fantasy form fluctuate. Be sure to keep Jenkins on your watch list to see if he can continue his resurgence in the second half of the season.
What more can be said about Patrick Dangerfield’s start to the year?
Dangerfield notched his fourth consecutive Fantasy ton and his seventh triple-figure score of the season at the ‘G on Saturday, finishing the match with 108 points from 26 disposals, four marks, seven tackles and a goal.
The two-time All Australian has always been a big Fantasy scorer on his day, but has stepped up his consistency in 2015. He remains Adelaide’s clear No.1 AFL Fantasy performer and sits 7th in the AFL for total points scored this season.
Proven premiums Scott Thompson (101) and Sam Jacobs (100) were the remaining Crows to hit the 100-point mark against the Blues.
Tom Lynch (95) also continued his outstanding Fantasy form with another solid score. The hard-working forward has now swelled by over $120,000 in value and is showing no signs of slowing down.
Keep your eye on Rory Sloane’s price in the coming weeks. The 2013 Club Champion was Adelaide’s best Fantasy performer last season but has had an injury-interrupted start to his 2015 campaign.
Sloane’s price has plummeted by nearly $100k since the start of the season but a player of his calibre is certain to rebound after Adelaide’s mid-season bye. Grab yourself a bargain while you can.
