Western Bulldogs defender Dale Morris will miss Sunday’s clash with Adelaide and could be sidelined for up to two months after having surgery on Monday to repair a torn left pectoral injury.
The 32-year-old suffered the injury in his side's 70-point loss to Hawthorn last Sunday and was subbed out of the match at quarter-time.
Bulldogs football manager Graham Lowe confirmed the news on Monday evening.
“After further consultation with a specialist, we’ve determined the best course of action is for him to have surgery so he’ll be unavailable for six to eight weeks," Lowe said.
Midfielder Mitch Wallis will also miss at least the next two weeks after receiving a knee to his lower back in the game against the Hawks.
The 22-year-old experienced back spasms as a result, preventing him from taking any further part in the match after half-time.
“He’s got some significant tightness and muscle spasm in his back and he’s come in today – certainly he’s freed up somewhat – but our expectation is he’s probably not going to be available for the next couple of weeks,” Lowe said.
Lowe said midfielders Marcus Bontempelli and Matthew Boyd, who were both late withdrawals against Hawthorn, were both expected to be available for selection this week.
Bontempelli (calf) and Boyd (soreness) will both be assessed at training ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Crows at Etihad Stadium.
