Adelaide co-captain Taylor Walker has been found guilty of rough conduct by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday.

The Tribunal upheld Walker’s $3,000 sanction from an incident against Port Adelaide’s Riley Bonner in the first quarter of Saturday’s JLT Community Series clash in Port Pirie. 

Representative Andrew Culshaw argued the incident did not constitute rough conduct, nor should it classify as low impact to the head as per the AFL Match Review Officer’s assessment.

AFL legal counsel Jeff Gleeson QC rebutted with the assertion that Walker’s tackle drove Bonner’s head into the ground unnecessarily and the Crows forward could have turned his body to allow both players to land on the ground at the same time.

The Tribunal jury of Shane Wakelin, Jason Johnson and Stephen Jurica deliberated for 36 minutes before handing down the guilty verdict.

After the verdict was delivered, Walker said he was disappointed, but will move on.
