The Adelaide Crows Children’s Foundation has partnered with Suneden Special School by donating $10,000 to the development of their outdoor sensory play area.
As a part of this partnership and the Club’s Growing with Gratitude Schools Program, players Rory Sloane, Kyle Cheney and Jake Kelly visited the school last week to take the children through a mini footy clinic.
Rory coordinated the kicking competitions and cheekily designated the target to be Kelly’s head or stomach. This proved quite a popular attraction with several direct hits.
Kyle Cheney then took the kids through a handball lesson and worked on hand-eye coordination, before Kelly finished up by teaching the children how to tackle.
Several of the students are extremely passionate about the AFL and are studying it in class, so the special visit was a real bonus.
First-year forward Harry Dear also volunteers at the school each fortnight to help the students succeed in their classes.
The Club hopes to continue its partnership with Suneden Special School and aims to one day host some of the older students at the Club to give them an insight into what it takes to become an AFL player.
