Premiership players Mark Ricciuto and Rod Jameson have joined the Adelaide Football Club’s Board as the first Member-elected Directors.
Ricciuto polled the most votes in the recent election and will serve a two-year term, while Jameson serves one year. The process was independently run by CorpVote Pty Ltd.
Crows Chairman Rob Chapman said the pair brought a wealth of both on and off-field experience.
“Mark and Rod have already made a significant contribution to our Club and they have been elected with emphatic support from our Members,” Chapman said.
Ricciuto said he was honoured to be given the opportunity to help guide the Club.
“Like everyone involved with the Adelaide Football Club, I will work hard to ensure on and off-field success,” he said.
“I am fortunate to have already served on the Board and can assure our Members that we head into a new era with a strong platform in place.”
Jameson, who is also Chairman of the Club’s Past Players & Officials Board, described his latest appointment as a privilege.
“I am very enthusiastic about continuing my long standing involvement with the Club in an official capacity and thank the Members for the belief they have shown in me,” he said.
“A great deal of work has been done in recent times and I look forward to contributing to the future success of the Club.”
More than 24,000 Crows Members were eligible to vote, with 19.7 percent participating which is well above the AFL average of 12 per cent.
Chapman thanked the other seven candidates who nominated for a position on the Board.
“I appreciate those people looking to assist the Club as it moves into an exciting new era and putting their passion and loyalty on show,” he said.
Board Directors Kate Gould and Deputy Chairman Jim Hazel have had their terms extended.
Mark Ricciuto
Ricciuto, 39, filled a casual vacancy on the Board created by the retirement of Peter Hurley in June last year, and was required to stand for formal election in 2015. One of the Club’s greatest-ever players, Ricciuto played 312 games for the Crows in a decorated career spanning 15 years. A premiership player, Brownlow Medallist, eight-time All Australian and triple best-and-fairest winner, Ricciuto captained Adelaide in 142 matches between 1999-2007 and remains the Club’s longest-serving skipper. He retired at the end of the 2007 season and was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He’s a Life Member of the Crows. Away from the football field, Ricciuto has strong business acumen. He’s a part owner of the Alma Tavern, Port Lincoln Hotel and also The Hackney. Ricciuto also has an extensive media background as co-host of Triple M’s Adelaide breakfast show, television commentator with national broadcaster Fox Footy and a columnist for The Advertiser.
Rod Jameson
Jameson, 44, enjoyed a decorated playing career with the Crows. The reliable defender played 153 AFL games, including Adelaide’s 1997 premiership. As well as a successful history in the football industry, both AFL and SANFL, Jameson has vast experience in the corporate, commercial, finance and not-for-profit sectors. Jameson is a Business Director for Westpac, in the SA, WA and Victoria, Sports and Entertainment arm. He also commentates football for the ABC nationally. Previously, the Crows Life Member worked as Account Executives for media organisations FIVEaa and Channel 9 and also Coopers Brewery. He’s the current Chairman of the Adelaide Football Club Past Players and Officials Ltd and Director of the Adelaide Crows Children Foundation. He’s also a former Director of the Glenelg Football Club.
