Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Thompson, Ben Rutten and Daniel Talia are all hoping to be fit for Adelaide’s Friday night blockbuster against reigning premiers Hawthorn.
Dangerfield (knee) and Talia (corked buttock) suffered knocks in Adelaide’s win over Greater Western Sydney, but both played out the game. Defender Ben Rutten was substituted in the first quarter after being concussed in a marking contest. Two-time Club Champion Scott Thompson also finished the match on the interchange bench after receiving a knock to the back of his leg.
The quartet will need to prove their fitness at training ahead of the sold-out clash at Adelaide Oval.
Young midfielder Rory Atkins, who was a late withdrawal from Adelaide’s SANFL game against West Adelaide, will also face a test on a sore ankle, but defender Sam Shaw (hamstring) is available.
Sam Kerridge will miss another fortnight after a foot injury failed to heal with a week’s rest. Exciting forward Charlie Cameron (groin) will also be aiming to make his return from injury after the bye, while Jared Petrenko is edging closer to a comeback from a stress fracture in his leg.
Captain Nathan van Berlo (Achilles) and goalkicker Lewis Johnston (hand) are still optimistic of late-season returns from long-term injuries.
The Crows will hold an open training session at Adelaide Oval from 10:00am on Thursday (July 10) for up to an hour. Public tickets to Adelaide’s game against Hawthorn, which will also be Eddie Betts’ 200th AFL game, have sold out. You can still gain access to the anticipated clash – and two other home games – by becoming a Bronze 3-Game Member for $25 (junior) or $85 (adult).
