Promising wingman Rory Atkins has signed a new two-year deal with Adelaide.
Atkins, who will be a Crow until at least the end of 2018, has played every game this season for a career total of 17.
Recruited from the Calder Cannons with pick No.81 in the 2012 AFL National Draft, the 21-year-old made his debut in the Club’s stirring Showdown win in Round 16 last season.
Atkins said he was thrilled to be staying at West Lakes.
“Adelaide gave me an opportunity four years ago and I’m rapt to have a chance to repay the Club,” he said.
“I’ve learned so much in my time here already, and believe this is the best environment for me to continue to grow both as a player and a person.
“We’re a close group and committed to working hard to achieve success.
“I’m really looking forward to the exciting times ahead.”
Atkins has added a different dimension to the Crows team with his footy smarts and neat skills.
He collected a career-high 27 possessions and six inside 50ms against Hawthorn in Round Five. Atkins has also hit the scoreboard, kicking a goal in five of his last six games.
Senior Coach Don Pyke said the left-footer was improving with every game.
“Rory brings versatility to our midfield group, being able to play both inside and outside the contest,” Pyke said.
“His ability to use the ball well and make his possessions count has been valuable to our team, which relies on an even contribution.”
