South Australia has named its initial squad ahead of this year’s U18 AFL National Championships in June.
Glenelg and Sturt were the best-represented clubs with both teams boating nine players in the squad of 45. Norwood was next in line with eight players selected, North Adelaide supplied seven and Woodville-West Torrens six.
State High Performance Manager Brenton Phillips and his U18s coaching panel will settle on a final squad of 40 ahead of South Australia’s opening game against the Allies at Football Park on June 4.
The Croweaters will play three of their four games at the venue, with the side’s final clash with reigning champions Victoria Country the only interstate match at Simonds Stadium on June 24.
Divison Two of the Championships kicks off on May 6 when the Northern Territory host Tasmania at TIO Stadium.
