See what St Kilda coach Alan Richardson had to say following his side’s 88-point loss to Adelaide.
On St Kilda’s recent performances on the road…
“Tonight was a very poor performance, we played against a very, very good footy team.
“Our two worst performances – two in a month now – have been against really strong footy teams when we’ve had to travel.
“The similarities (in the two losses) are that we have been smashed early in the game, we fought back a little bit last time, we weren’t able to get hold of the footy at all today.”
Richardson’s take on Adelaide’s performance and his own side’s effort…
“I thought (the Crows) were outstanding, that’s certainly the best that we’ve seen.
“It’s hard to put it totally into context given that we know our group was able to put on enormous pressure last week and we just didn’t get that done at all and that’s an intent thing.
“That’s a choice you make, that’s not just because the opposition are too good for you, so that was incredibly frustrating.”
Pyke pleased with ‘mature’ performance
On where the game was won and lost…
“We got beaten really badly inside and just demolished on the outside. We just weren’t in the fight, weren’t in the game at all.”
“We’ve come off a game (last week) where our pressure was really strong, we’ve laid 100 tackles. Today we didn’t have that in us, we didn’t believe, we were on the back foot, we played really reactionary.
“We were just second to the ball all day, the numbers will be horrific… they’re all the outcome of something and our guys just didn’t believe they could win that game.
On Jarryn Geary’s match-up against Eddie Betts…
“He’s on one of the in-form players in the competition, on Eddie Betts I thought he did a fantastic job, given the quality of the ball that went in there.
“He didn’t stop fighting, he’d be proud, he walked off the ground in a team that was beaten but he wasn’t beaten, he continued to fly the flag and compete.”
