Rory Laird has locked down yet another starting spot in the AFL’s Team of the Week for Round 15.
Laird, 22, claimed his regular post in a back pocket after an outstanding display against Melbourne at the MCG. The courageous defender collected 25 possessions, had four rebound 50ms and took a team-high 10 marks - including three intercepts.
It’s Laird's sixth Team of the Week guernsey of the season and his third from the past four rounds. It’s an incredible record considering he also missed four games due to injury earlier in the year.
The former rookie earned a perfect 10 from Don Pyke and Paul Roos in the AFLCA voting in further recognition of his performance on Sunday at the MCG.
Laird was the only Crow included in the latest Team of the Week, which is compiled by AFL Media. Rory Sloane, Charlie Cameron and Taylor Walker are among those who may consider themselves unlucky to miss out on a spot in the side this week.
Gold Coast and the Western Bulldogs dominated the Round 15 Team of the Week with four representatives each. Both West Coast and Sydney had three players included, while Richmond and Port Adelaide had two players each in the side.
Sloane, Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins (all three times), Rory Atkins, Daniel Talia (twice), Scott Thompson, Tom Lynch and Walker are the other Crows who have been recognised in AFL Media’s Team of the Week throughout the course of the season so far.
