Young midfielder Mitch Grigg is expected to be fit for Sunday’s game against the Western Bulldogs.

Grigg suffered a corked hip in the second half of Adelaide’s win over North Melbourne.

“Griggy got was a classic hip pointer. It’s the one that gets you right on the top of the hip bone and they really sting,” said coach Brenton Sanderson after the game.

“It can be hard to get going after one of those, but I don’t think it’s an injury that will keep Griggy out of next week.”

The Crows reported no other injuries in Sunday’s game.

Reigning Club Champion Scott Thompson was substituted out at three-quarter time. Sanderson said the change was made for tactical reasons not because of injury.

“I wasn’t disappointed with Thommo’s game. We just felt like we needed run in the last quarter and we had Matty Wright, a fresh midfielder, sitting there in the green vest,” he said.

“Daniel Wells had a super third quarter. After debate in the coach’s box, we decided to bring run on and try to shut down Wells with Wrighty.”

Brodie Martin didn’t play for Sturt because of a rolled ankle, while defender Luke Thompson is still 2-3 weeks away with his ankle injury. Onballer Nick Joyce had successful shoulder surgery last week.

Adelaide will hold an open training session from 9:00am on Saturday on Max Basheer Reserve.
