Trade Period recruit Curtly Hampton has returned to full training following a long-term foot injury.

Hampton, 23, is yet to play a game for points this season because of Plantar Fasciitis. The exciting utility had surgery to repair the damage in April after the injury failed to heal with a period of rest.

Crows General Manager of High Performance Brett Burton said the former GWS player, who also had a modified pre-season because of a groin complaint, would build up his fitness base before making a return through the SANFL in the coming weeks.

“In good news, Curtly was able to do main training today (Monday),” Burton said.

“We’ll look to get a couple of weeks (of training) under his belt with the main squad and then he’ll be available to play in 2-3 weeks.”

Veteran Nathan van Berlo missed Adelaide’s last round of games because of foot soreness.

Burton said the 200-gamer’s injury had responded well to the extended break between games.

“Nathan’s recovered well from that and trained well today,” Burton said.

“He’ll be available to play this weekend.”

Forward Riley Knight remains unavailable for selection as he recovers from a niggling foot complaint.

“Riley’s been dealing with a lower-leg injury,” Burton said.

“He’s got a nerve irritation in that area at the moment, so he’s being assessed on a weekly basis.

“He won’t be available to play this week.”

The Club continues to take a very conservative approach to defender Sam Shaw’s recovery from concussion symptoms.
