Three Crows have made AFL Media’s Team of the Week for Round Two after standout performances in Showdown XL.
Last year’s Club Champion runner-up Rory Laird was named in a back pocket after he amassed 33 possessions and 12 marks in Adelaide’s 58-point victory. The reliable backman overcame a heavy knock in the second half to be his team’s leading ball-winner of the match.
The enigmatic Eddie Betts was at his dangerous best in Showdown XL, bagging five goals and producing an equal game-high three goal assists. Betts was named on a half-forward flank in the Team of the Week.
Showdown Medallist Tom Lynch lines up in a forward pocket after an incredible six-goal haul against the Power. Lynch had 21 possessions, eight marks and four tackles and is fast becoming one of the most dangerous medium-sized forwards in the competition.
Essendon had four players in the Round Two team of the week. Adelaide, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs all had three representatives.
Josh Jenkins was the Crows’ only player in the Round One Team of the Week after his five-goal haul in Adelaide’s narrow loss to North Melbourne.
