Senior players Mark Ricciuto (hamstring), Nathan Bassett (shoulder), Ben Hudson (knee), Ben Hart (leg soreness), Matthew Clarke (leg soreness), Scott Welsh (leg stress fracture) and Michael Doughty (knee) will not play.
And last year's All-Australian full-back Ben Rutten is in doubt - despite being named - due to a groin injury.
The Crows may unleash two of their draftees from last November - Richard Douglas and Bernie Vince - who are in the initial squad.
Young ruckmen Ivan Maric and John Meesen, both entering their second season with the club, are also likely to make their first appearance in the blue, red and gold.
Adelaide has not named any rookies in its squad.
Port Adelaide will take on the Crows without key players Chad Cornes, Darryl Wakelin, Gavin Wanganeen and Josh Francou.
Cornes (foot) and Wakelin (hamstring) are expected to miss up to two weeks, while Wanganeen (toe) and Francou (knee) will be sidelined for three matches.
Kane Cornes, who has had a lower back injury, has been named in the squad.
The Power will unleash former Roo Daniel Motlop, who starred in Port Adelaide's two intra-club matches and ex-Hawk Nathan Lonie for the first time, after they were traded to the club last October.
New rookie and former Lion Tom Logan - who played three matches for Brisbane in 2005 - has also been included.
It will be Warren Tredrea's first official outing wearing the No.1 guernsey - as he is now the captain of the club in his own right since the retirement of Matthew Primus.
