Everitt in demand, while Crameri's move to the Western Bulldogs may need a Gumbleton trade to happen this week.
Out-of-contract Swan in demand
Seemingly unwanted by the Sydney Swans, Andrejs Everitt has become a sought after commodity, according to The Age.
Out of contract at the Swans, Everitt had been strongly linked with a move across town to Greater Western Sydney, while West Coast has also shown an interest.
But the report says Carlton has also thrown its hat into the ring, with coach Mick Malthouse reportedly catching up with Everitt while he was on holiday in Queensland this week.
Everitt played 20 games for the Swans in 2013 in his most productive season at the club, but is likely to be squeezed out in Sydney following the signing of Lance Franklin.
With Jed Lamb's decision to switch to the Giants, however, the report states that Everitt has also been offered a contract to remain with the Swans.
The former Western Bulldog needs to determine where he thinks he will get the best deal and the most playing time, with the Giants still confident of adding him to their young list.
Crameri deal relies on a third party
As reported by AFL.com.au, Stewart Crameri's hopes of a move to the Western Bulldogs are relying on a third club becoming involved in the deal.
Crameri is believed to be desperate to switch to the Dogs as part of a deal that could also involve Scott Gumbleton's move to Fremantle.
Gumbleton is keen to return to Western Australia.
Both deals have taken time to develop during the trade period, but Paul Connors, who manages Crameri and Gumbleton, told Gillette AFL Trade Radio he believed both would go through by Friday and that Crameri would avoid the need to go through to the pre-season draft to get to the Bulldogs.
"I think common sense will prevail," he said.
Polec inches closer to Port
The Lions and the Power have so far been unable to strike a deal and while Port remain confident it will happen, other clubs are being sounded out to help it over the line.
"It’s been a case of we don’t want to give up pick 14 and Brisbane don’t want to accept pick 34, but we’re trying to find something in between,” Port football manager Peter Rohde told SEN.
“We’re going to rely on some other clubs to turn those picks into picks in the 20s and we’ll end up with one and Brisbane will end up with one.
“It’s been a long process, but we’re very confident we’ll get something done in the next day to secure Polec.”
The Power had hoped they could use the trade of Heath Shaw and Taylor Adams to Greater Western Sydney and Collingwood respectively to facilitate the trade, but that ended up being a straight swap.
“There are other ways we can do it and we’ve certainly got a plan B and plan C in place and we’re starting to look towards those," Rohde said.
In other news
Carlton is expected to lodge the paperwork for Sam Docherty on Thursday, with the Brisbane Lions’ midfielder finally set to get his wish of a return home to Victoria.
The Lions will receive pick No.33 in return for Docherty.
The Queensland club is also close to finalising a deal to send ruckman Billy Longer to St Kilda.
The Lions have been holding out in the hope the Saints would improve their current offer of pick No.25 in the draft, but it seems likely that deal will go through before the trade period ends at 2pm on Friday.
Greater Western Sydney is also putting the finishing touches on its busy trade period.
With the trade of Taylor Adams to Collingwood for Heath Shaw to be completed on Thursday, and former Cat Josh Hunt expected to join the Giants, the club is working on a trade with the Swans for Jed Lamb.
GWS is likely to give pick No.48 to the Swans in exchange for Lamb, who will sign a three-year deal with the cross-town club.
