For the third time, Adelaide will carry pick No. 28 into the National Draft, following previous selections of Shaun McKernan (2008) and Chad Gibson (2004).
McKernan, a forward/ruck, tallied 34 games in five seasons for Adelaide before he moved to Essendon at the end of 2014.
He has played another 44 AFL games and is set to play his 11th AFL season in 2020.
Pick No.28 has brought success for several clubs with premiership players Brent Guerra, Chris Dawes and Mitch Duncan springing to mind.
Guerra, a dual premiership Hawk, was picked up by Port Adelaide in 1999 and played 65 games in four seasons.
He was traded to St Kilda in 2003 but after two seasons was delisted.
Hawthorn handed Guerra a lifeline and he thrived during a 159-game run which netted premierships in 2008 and 2013.
Dawes featured for both Collingwood and Melbourne, although he was better known for the 71 games and 2010 premiership with the Magpies.
The 2006 draft pick kicked 130 goals in 121 games.
In 2009, Geelong drafted West Australian Duncan to an imposing side that had just claimed its second flag in three seasons.
Two years later, he helped the Cats win their ninth premiership.
Duncan is set to play his 10th AFL season next year as he looks to build on his 203-game career.
Eight picks are active in the AFL system, including Brisbane pair Ryan Lester (2010) and Lewis Taylor (2013), while Luke Partington (2015) has nominated for the 2019 AFL Draft.
