Four Crows will move to new numbers in 2020, alongside new recruit Billy Frampton who has inherited No. 22.
Lachlan Murphy will drop one of the digits on the back of his guernsey, moving to the No.4 left vacant by Josh Jenkins.
Chayce Jones will move from 20 to No.1, keeping it in the strong Tasmanian tradition attached to the numbers.
As reported, Tyson Stengle will take the No.18 guernsey - maintaining the Indigenous connection with the number forged by Troy Bond, Graham Johncock and Eddie Betts.
And young defender Will Hamill will shift from his No.35 guernsey to Stengle’s former number 17.
Speaking to AFC Media, Murphy revealed his cheeky reason for making the switch.
“Being next to two big ruckman in (Kieran) Strachan and (Reilly) O’Brien leant me towards going to a different number,” Murphy joked.
“Two ruckmen, they spread their stuff everywhere, big size 15 shoes on my locker… It’s not the greatest.”
Jokes aside, the young forward said he ummed and arred about switching.
“Four is my favourite number,” he said.
“When JJ left, I thought ‘four has become available’... but 44 has two of them.”
