Adelaide small forward Lachlan Murphy wants to fill the goal-kicking void left by Eddie Betts in the Crows’ forward line.
The 20-year-old had a breakout season in 2019, playing 21 games and booting 19 goals - including three-goal-hauls against Gold Coast and St Kilda.
On day one of pre-season, Murphy told AFC Media that he had “a range of things” to work on ahead of 2020.
“Now that Eddie (Betts) is gone, I have to try and kick more goals,” Murphy said.
“I've done a lot of work on my goal-kicking during the break… that will ramp up now that we’re back at training.
“My pressure and tackling is my one wood, but thats still got plenty of improvement left as well.
“I aspire to be one of the best pressure small forwards in the comp… I’ve got a long way to go to reach that.”
Before jetting out on his European holiday, Murphy was elevated from the rookie list to the senior list.
“I don't feel like too much really changes, but it is nice to get a little more recognition and get noticed as a senior player,” Murphy said.
“I’ve worked pretty hard to get to where I am, it's pretty cool, but not much changes.
“Rookies train the same and can all play AFL.”
Teammate Tyson Stengle inherited Betts’ No. 18 guernsey earlier this month following his first year at the Club.
Regarding a partnership with Stengle up forward, Murphy said the pair were “still building”.
“We’re good friends, now it's just getting to know our games a bit better,” Murphy said.
“Hopefully we can build a good duo there.”
