Adelaide’s hunt for a new senior assistant coach will ramp up in “the coming days”, chief executive Andrew Fagan has revealed.
Speaking to an Adelaide radio station on Tuesday, Fagan said new coach Matthew Nicks would have “significant say” in the appointment.
“It’s his role to put people around him,” Fagan said.
“He’s the Senior Coach of the Adelaide footy club, he needs to put in place people around him who will have that department operating at an elite level.
“We’re having some conversations over the next couple of days to identify the support he’s looking for.”

Nicks told AFC Media on Tuesday it was important for a coach to have a “right-hand-man” but insisted his first focus was on meeting and building relationships with Adelaide’s current coaching panel.
“It will be important for me to sit down with the current group and see where things are at,” Nicks said..
“We have a really strong coaching panel… I won a premiership with Mick Godden.
“Last thing I want to do is jump to a decision on the assistant.
“Definitely at some point down the track, I think it’s important for a coach to have a right hand man to help with the day-to-day stuff and be an experienced voice to calm you down.”
Nicks said there could be a chance for a fresh face in Adelaide’s coaching box.
“There may be an opportunity for other people,” Nicks said.
“I’ve worked alongside some fantastic operators but that will be a discussion Andrew (Fagan) and I have going forward.”
Pre-season begins in four weeks time, with most players still on leave.

Nicks, however, said he plans to work through the holiday period in an effort to build relationships with fans and staff.
“We finished up in the Grand Final (with GWS) a couple of weeks ago,” he said.
“I’ll work right through (to the start of pre-season), it’s one of those things that’s important for me to be here and meet as many people as possible.
“I’ll do whatever I can to meet supporters, some of the staff in admin, our whole football department to get an understanding and build relationships.
“I’m going to ask the players to do that as well.”
