A last-gasp goal to first-year midfielder Myles Poholke has sealed an incredible two-point victory for the SANFL Crows over Norwood at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.

Poholke nailed the final major of the game with only 30 seconds remaining to cap off a pulsating contest between the two teams.

The 18-year-old showed maturity beyond his years to steady and slot the match-winner on the run after receiving a handball from fellow draftee Matthew Signorello.

It was the last of five lead changes in a thrilling fourth quarter in front of a vocal crowd at The Parade.

Adelaide led by as much as 15 points midway through the final stanza before Norwood charged back ahead with three unanswered goals.

Former Crow Lewis Johnston’s third goal of the game at the 21-minute mark looked to signal the end for the SANFL Crows.

But Adelaide’s young SANFL side refused to lie down and forced the ball back forward to earn a chance at victory.

The result was Adelaide’s fourth straight win over the Redlegs since Round 16, 2015.


Dynamic forward Mitch McGovern was influential in his comeback from a serious hamstring injury. The 22-year-old had his game time monitored but still managed four goals and took several trademark contested marks in an impressive return.

Harrison Wigg willed his way into the game after a quiet start. Wigg, 20, amassed a team-high 30 possessions, nine clearances and six inside 50ms in arguably his best performance of the year.

The left-footer also pushed forward to kick two crucial goals, including a magnificent major out of a pack inside Adelaide’s forward 50.

Troy Menzel hit the scoreboard with a season-best four goals while promising forward Ben Jarman continues to improve with every game and finished with three majors – his best return in League football.

Experienced defender Kyle Cheney strengthened his claims for a senior recall with a miserly performance across half-back which included a team-best three intercept marks.

Veteran onballer Scott Thompson again impressed with his presence and leadership, piling in for 25 possessions (15 contested), nine clearances and an incredible 14 tackles.


Crows SANFL coach Ryan O'Keefe praised the resilience of his group.

“That was a real character win I thought, especially to bounce back from last week’s performance where we got challenged and as a team and we just laid over,” he said.

“To keep pushing back and find a way to win was really pleasing for such a young group."

Paul Seedsman made a successful return from a lingering groin complaint to collect 17 possessions and seven marks from limited game time.

The Crows finished with just one man on the interchange bench after injuries to development players Sam Tharaldsen (knee) and Tyson Lever (collarbone).

Adelaide’s AFL and SANFL teams both break for a bye next weekend.
