Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins lost seven kilograms after suffering a bout of food poisoning and spent much of Friday on the toilet before playing in the Crows' 21-point win against Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
Jenkins, 28, ate some dodgy ham and thought he was a "long shot" to play on Tuesday, but took to the field and kicked the game's first goal within 30 seconds of the opening bounce.
He told Fox Footy on Saturday morning he would work on regaining the weight ahead of Sunday week's clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
"From the time we arrived in Darwin (to face Melbourne in round 17) to last night, it was almost seven kilos (he lost), so it was a little bit frightening," Jenkins said.
"Luckily I'm a big guy so I'll be able to throw it back on but I certainly spoke to our nutritionist last night about getting some food back in. It's a bit of an excuse to eat away all weekend and try to chuck on a couple of kilos.
He picked up 13 disposals and six marks in the victory.
"I wasn't too sure whether I'd be playing for most of the day. I felt pretty sick yesterday and spent plenty of time on the toilet.
"Not a great preparation but to have the ball bounce my way early was great."
