West Coast forward Mark LeCras is likely to return for Sunday’s clash with Adelaide at Domain Stadium.
The skilful goalkicker has missed two weeks with a hamstring injury but has his sights set on this week’s contest against the Crows if the 30-year-old can negotiate a final fitness test.
“He got through some high speed running on Monday and the only thing he needs to do now is get through training on Thursday to be available for this weekend,” Eagles Senior Physiotherapist Paul Tucker said.
Teammate Simon Tunbridge won’t be considered after sustaining a hamstring injury of his own on Saturday in the WAFL.
Tunbridge hasn’t played at AFL level this year after undergoing a knee reconstruction in December missing the past fortnight with a calf strain.
“It’s really unfortunate for Simon that he had a fairly significantly hamstring injury playing WAFL footy at the weekend,” Tucker said.
“Unfortunately, it’s bad enough to require surgery, which he is going to have done tomorrow.”
Former Magpie Sharrod Wellingham put his name back in the selection mix with a 34-possession performance for East Perth last weekend. The 29-year-old has played 12 senior games this season, but only three since Round 10.
Defenders Jackson Nelson and Will Schofield could be called upon to combat Adelaide’s potent forward line.
Willie Rioli collected 20 touches and had nine inside 50ms in the WAFL after kicking four goals the previous round as he hunts an AFL debut.
Tom Lamb, who was the travelling emergency for last week’s loss to Greater Western Sydney, could also be considered.
