Crows AFL Women's premiership coach Bec Goddard will mentor the Allies in Round Two of the 2017 AFLW Under-18 Championships.
Goddard was unveiled as coach of the team, which is comprised of players from South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania, on Friday ahead of July's carnival.
It’s the first time an Allies team will feature in the championships.
Goddard said it was another exciting step for women’s football.
“I’m looking forward to coaching at the championships as the standard of under-age women’s football continues to improve throughout the country,” she told afl.com.au.
“The championships play an important role in developing the next generation of AFLW players and I expect to see many of the players feature in the NAB AFL Women’s Draft in October.”
Greater Western Sydney Giants players Renee Forth, who is also an AFL Women’s Academy coach, and Jessica Dal Pos will serve as assistant coaches alongside former Vic Metro captain and Melbourne women’s player Katherine Smith.
Jessica Allan, the younger sister of Crows premiership player Sarah, and 2016 Dutschke Medallist Chloe Scheer are among those named in the Allies’ squad.
Round Two of the AFL Women’s Under-18 Championships begins on the Gold Coast from Monday, July 10.
NSW/ACT, Queensland, Vic Country, Vic Metro and Western Australia are the other competing teams.
