Passionate Crows fan Colleen McKaye has been recognised as one of the best supporters in the nation.
The Adelaide Crows Supporters Group committee member has been named the AFL Fans Association Female Fan of the Year.
The Award is recognition for Colleen’s work as Assistant Treasurer and Events/Fundraising Manager for the supporter group which has seen her organise numerous raffles and other fundraising initiatives and events.
McKaye is part of the supporter group’s banner making team, organises buses and tickets for interstate games and attends all home games as well as a number of interstate matches every year.
At games, she is known for getting the crowd going with chants.
“I live and breathe the Crows and so much of my time is spent supporting them,” she said.
“I get to games three or four hours before the bounce to help set up the bay, pole the banner, and take merchandise to the Magarey Room, where I organise our after-match raffle and sell merchandise along with other members.
“For big games like Showdowns, I dress up in over the top clothes to show my Crows colours and this year I attended away games in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Alice Springs and Canberra.”
McKaye is the third Crows supporter to be recognised by the AFL Fans Association in the last three years, with Robert Smith awarded Male Fan of the Year in 2016 and Annie Green named Female Fan of the Year in 2017.
The Adelaide Football Club congratulates Colleen and thanks all Crows fans for their passion and commitment.
