Rory Sloane and Jake Lever will be given until late in the week to prove their fitness for Friday night’s clash with Geelong.
Sloane, 27, was concussed in a tackle from Melbourne forward Dean Kent in the third quarter at TIO Stadium on Saturday night. The Adelaide vice-captain didn’t take any further part in the game.
Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass said Sloane was in good spirits.
“He (Sloane) has presented really well early in the week,” Hass said.
“He’ll go into the usual concussion protocol and we’ll make a decision on his availability later in the week.”
Lever, 21, also finished the match on the bench after experiencing hamstring tightness.
“With a six-day break into (the) Geelong (game) we won’t take any risk with Jake, but a decision will be made later in the week on his availability,” Hass said.
Wingman Wayne Milera Junior didn’t play on the weekend because of a minor calf complaint.
Hass said Milera would need to prove his fitness at the Club’s main session on Wednesday.
“Wayne pulled up tight in his calf after main training last week. He’ll be an assessment for this week.”
Defender Kyle Cheney is poised to play after missing three weeks with a hamstring strain.
In further good news, draftee Ben Davis is set to make his Club debut against Norwood on Sunday.
Recruited with pick No.75 in last year’s AFL National Draft, Davis has recovered from a long-term foot injury that has prevented him from playing at any level this season.
Hass said the duo had one final box to tick before being cleared to play.
“Both (Cheney and Davis) are required to train with the team tomorrow and should they get through that they’ll be available for the weekend,” he said.
Harry Dear (quad) and Matthew Signorello (concussion) were late withdrawals from Adelaide’s SANFL clash with West Adelaide on Saturday, but are tipped to return this week.
Jono Beech also missed the game against his former club as part of his duties as an AFL emergency.
Ruckman Reilly O’Brien remains a week-to-week proposition with a back injury.
Defender Kyle Hartigan is aiming to complete his comeback from a hamstring injury within a fortnight.
