Brisbane’s Daniel McStay has been cleared by the Match Review Officer for high contact against defender Tom Doedee after the two players collided during the third quarter on Saturday.

Doedee had gained possession of the ball following a clearance in Adelaide’s forward 50 and was collected high by McStay in the tackle.

It was the view of the Match Review Officer that McStay’s actions were a legitimate attempt to tackle. No further action was taken.

Another Lion, Tom Cutler, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct with Lachlan Murphy following another incident in the third quarter which saw Murphy sandwiched between Cedric Cox and Cutler.

With Cutler going for the mark behind Murphy, Cutler cut across the duo and a high elbow hit Murphy in the head.

Based on the available evidence and a medical report from the Crows, the incident was classified as careless conduct with high impact to the head. The incident was assessed as a two-match sanction and Cutler can accept a two-match sanction with an early plea.

While he was not charged for the earlier incident, McStay has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Luke Brown in the fourth quarter.

McStay made careless contact with Brown following an attempted defensive clearance. The incident was assessed as a $3000 sanction and he can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea.

During the same passage of play, Jake Barrett laid a shepherd on Rory Laird which saw the defender go to ground.

He has been charged with making contact from front-on with the incident assessed as a $3000 sanction. Barrett can accept a $2000 sanction with an early plea.
