AFLW coach Bec Goddard says Adelaide has a “point to prove” in Darwin on Friday night.

The Crows, who have a partnership with AFL Northern Territory, are yet to win at their second home.

The Club lost to Melbourne at TIO Stadium in Round Six last season, and have also suffered two trial game defeats to Fremantle at the venue.

The Crows will get another opportunity to secure victory in the Territory – and keep their premiership defence intact – against the Dockers on Friday night.

“This game is a must-win if our season is to stay alive,” Goddard said.

“We haven’t won a game in Darwin yet. We’re really looking forward to making a good impression this time around.

“We want to do the girls and their families up here proud.”

Co-captain Erin Phillips made the trip to Darwin with her teammates on Thursday.

Goddard said the reigning AFLW Best and Fairest was a certainty to play against Fremantle.

“Erin’s had a really good week on the track,” she said.

“Her (training) load has been a little bit less. When you’ve got an athlete of Erin’s calibre, you’ve always got to be careful how you manage her body.

“She’s really good at knowing her limits.

“If she says to me and the other coaching staff that she’s right to play, then she’s right to play.”

The AFLW heat policy will be in effect at TIO Stadium on Friday night.

The AFL uses the ‘bulb’ to determine heat and humiditylevels on a match-by-match basis.

The forecast for Darwin on Friday is 34 degrees with a medium chance of showers.

As a result of the heat policy, the quarter and three-quarter time breaks increased from six-and-a-half minutes to eight minutes with teams also able to leave the ground. The half-time break will be increased from 16 to 20 minutes and teams can have two extra water carriers.

Goddard didn’t expect the unique conditions to favour either side.

“We’ve got a bit of a team rule when it comes to the heat. We don’t talk about it,” she said.

“We know it exists … but we don’t let it bother us.

“We’ve recovered really well this week. It was a pretty physical game against Carlton, but we played some really fast and exciting football and we’re going to look to do that tomorrow night.”
