Crows co-captain Taylor Walker is expected to be available for his side’s clash with Carlton this weekend despite battling an elbow injury.
Walker first sustained the injury in Adelaide’s loss to Geelong in Round 15 and aggravated the joint in a collision on Friday night.
“Taylor had a high-grade medial ligament sprain to his elbow from the Geelong game,” Crows Science and Medical Coordinator Steve Saunders said.
“He’s been managing it really well, but unfortunately in the game on the weekend he hyperextended the elbow.
“This has aggravated the joint, but not so much the ligament, so while it is sore, we expect it to track well later in the week and for him to be ready.”
Cam Ellis-Yolmen will not be available as he continues his rehabilitation for a low-level stress reaction to his right fibula.
“Cam’s made steady progress with his strength work,” Saunders said.
“He is looking ready to start progressing his overground running later this week, but that does exclude him from being ready for the game this week.”
Ned McHenry will also miss this weekend as he continues to manage a back injury.
“Ned’s completing high volumes of training, but there is still some low-level symptoms on particular movements at the moment,” Saunders said.
“Therefore, we’re taking a cautious approach with Ned.”
Young forward Shane McAdam will be a test for this week as he overcomes an illness.
“Shane came down with bronchitis over the weekend, so he’ll be assessed later this week to determine his ability to play,” Saunders said.
Myles Poholke will also be tested at Adelaide’s main training session on Wednesday after missing the past three weeks with a calf injury.
Defender Andrew McPherson has been ruled out for the coming weeks after injuring his hamstring in the final minutes of the SANFL Crows clash with North Adelaide on Saturday.
“In the final ten minutes, Andy sustained an upper hamstring strain while accelerating and lunging,” Saunders said.
“We expect him to return to a high level of function in the next couple of weeks, at which stage we will assess his return-to-play loading plan.”
Ruckman Paul Hunter will also miss the upcoming weeks with a mid-foot Lisfranc ligament sprain.
“Paul sustained a contact injury in the SANFL game when his foot became trapped in a tackle,” Saunders said.
“Scans have confirmed the mid-foot is stable, he’ll spend some time in a boot and his return to play timeframe will become clearer at the end of this week.”
