Young Crows Mitch Grigg and Jake Kelly have taken out the first time trial of the pre-season.
The players were split into two groups for the two-kilometre run at the Adelaide University loop. Grigg finished first in group one, while Kelly led the second group home.
Midfielders David Mackay, Rory Sloane and Brodie Smith ran strongly, as did defensive trio Jake Lever, Luke Brown and Rory Laird. Dean Gore was the pick of Adelaide’s new recruits.
Regular pacesetter Nathan van Berlo didn’t participate in the time trial as he continues his rehabilitation from post-season shoulder surgery.
It was the first time this pre-season the entire playing squad has trained together following the return of the Club’s 5+ year players on Monday morning.
Recruits Paul Seedsman, Troy Menzel and Wayne Milera all completed their first full sessions with the group. Draftee Tom Doedee and rookie Paul Hunter, who arrived from interstate on Sunday, watched on and will begin training with the squad this week.
Seedsman, who was traded to the Crows from Collingwood in October, was pleased to finally get started with his new Club.
“It (the session) was nice and tough, and good to get the two-kilometre time trial out the way,” Seedsman said.
“It was my first session with the main group … all the boys are really welcoming. I’ve been here (in Adelaide) just over a week now, settling in. I’m really looking forward to it, to a fresh start and this opportunity the Crows have given me.
“Now, I’m just really keen and eager to get going in this pre-season.”
