Adelaide teenager Chayce Jones has one key message of advice for Australia’s next crop of AFL footballers: don’t stress.
One year ago, the Tasmanian native was selected by the Crows with pick No.9 in the 2018 National Draft.
As the build-up commences for the 2019 crop, Jones shared his best tips to avoid draft anxiety.
“As long as you put your best foot forward all year, leading up to it don't stress,” Jones said.
“Most of the boys would have had a damn hard time juggling school and footy, you've done well getting to the point you're at now.
“Whatever happens happens, just keep moving forward.”

Thankfully for the 19-year-old, school exams managed to demand most of his attention in the preceding weeks.
“It sort of brings back a few memories,” Jones said.
“This time of the year was busy because I had school exams and wasn't really focussed on the draft.
“It was all sort of finished, there was nothing else I could really do.
“It’s more of a waiting game… (but) the more you thought about it the more anxious you’d get, so I tried to focus on school.”

Looking ahead to the 2020 season, Jones said his big focus was breaking into the midfield.
“That’s the plan, play some good footy and cement a spot,” Jones said.
“I had a few games in 2019 which was amazing for experience.
“I want to push into the midfield, to make sure I’m going through there as much as I can.
“With that comes trying to get a bit more size, a bit better around the stoppages with my bodywork.”
