Promising teenager Chayce Jones has made a long-term commitment to Adelaide, signing a three-year contract extension.

Already committed for next season, Jones’ extension will see him remain with the Crows until at least the end of 2023. 

The Launceston product became the Crows’ first top-10 draftee in more than a decade when he was selected with pick No.9 in the 2018 national draft.

Jones made his AFL debut in Round One against Hawthorn, joining an exclusive club when he kicked a goal with his first kick in senior footy. 

He has played six AFL games so far this season, averaging 9.7 disposals, 2.2 tackles and 15 pressure acts per game. 

The 19-year-old said he was thrilled to sign an extension and was living out his dream.

“It’s still a bit surreal being on an AFL list, but the whole experience has been a dream come true since day one,” Jones said.

“Every single person at the Club has been awesome to me, all of my teammates and coaches. 

“I can’t wait to continue to learn from all of them over the next few years and strive to get the absolute best out of myself.” 

Crows General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said Jones was an important part of the Club’s future.

“Chayce has impressed everyone at the Club since he arrived with his talent, strong work ethic and overall character,” Reid said.

“As a first-round draftee, we obviously rate Chayce highly and are excited to see him continue to develop as a player and person.

“Chayce has a very bright future ahead of him and will play a huge part in helping to take our Club forward.”

All four of Adelaide’s 2018 national draftees have now signed contract extensions after Ned McHenry, Will Hamill and Lachlan Sholl inked new deals in June.

Young Crows Lachlan Murphy, Ben Davis and Jordon Butts have also extended their contracts in recent weeks.
