AFC Media has had a look at Adelaide's 2018 recruits to see how they are tracking at the halfway point of their first season at the Club.
Chayce Jones (Pick No. 9, 2018 National Draft)
Jones impressed in the pre-season JLT series, enough to earn his AFL debut in Round One. He made his mark on the big stage when he slotted a goal with his first kick in AFL. After six games, Jones was pushed out of the side due to Adelaide’s healthy list. The 19-year-old has been consistent across his four games in the SANFL, collecting over 20 disposals in each. His match against Norwood in Round Six was a highlight, in which he recorded 24 touches, eight clearances, five tackles and four inside 50s, along with a goal.
AFL: Six games, one goal – 9.7 disposals, 2.2 tackles, 2.2 inside 50s per game
SANFL: Four games, two goals – 23 disposals, six clearances, four tackles per game

Ned McHenry (Pick No. 16, 2018 National Draft)
The tough midfielder had a consistent first half of the season for the SANFL Crows, despite missing a few games through injury. A tackling machine, the 18-year-old has used his endurance to run hard on the wing for the team. McHenry impressed in Adelaide’s Round Five win over Central District with 28 disposals, 11 tackles, six rebound 50s and a goal. Against Central District in Round Five, he had 25 disposals, 19 of those contested, five inside 50s and four tackles.

Will Hamill (Pick No. 30, 2018 National Draft)
Hamill’s consistent first half of the SANFL season was rewarded with a two-year contract extension in early June. The young defender is competing well one-on-one and is providing pace out of the back half. The 18-year-old’s debut was a highlight, being named second best by the coaches in the Round One win over Sturt.
SANFL: 10 games – 12.4 disposals, three marks per game, 75.8 per cent disposal efficiency
Lachlan Sholl (Pick No. 64, 2018 National Draft)
The 19-year-old has played off half-back in the young SANFL defence, providing a lot of run and carry out of the defensive 50 in all 10 rounds. Sholl was a shining light in the Club’s only loss of the season against Glenelg in Round Two, having 33 disposals, eight rebound 50s and six marks.
SANFL: 10 games – 19.7 disposals, seven marks, three rebound 50s per game
Kieran Strachan (Pick No. 7, 2018 Rookie Draft)
Strachan has spent the first half of the season adjusting to his new position up forward after being moved from the ruck. He has played every game of the season and kicked seven goals, marking well inside 50 and up the ground. The 24-year-old’s best game was last Saturday, where he kicked three goals and took eight marks against Central District.
SANFL: 10 games, seven goals – 7.6 disposals, four marks per game
Jordon Butts (Pick No. 39, 2018 Rookie Draft)
Butts’ one-on-one defending and rebound off half-back has been a highlight in 2019 for the SANFL Crows. Playing on both tall and small forwards, the 19-year-old has been competing well in the air and on the ground. He enjoys running with the ball and uses it well, recently kicking at over 90 per cent three rounds in a row. His best game was against West Adelaide in Round Nine where he had 23 disposals, 11 marks and six spoils.
SANFL: 10 games – 19.4 disposals, seven marks per game, 80.9 disposal efficiency

Shane McAdam (traded from Carlton as a pre-draft access pick)
The speedy forward had an injury interrupted start to the year, missing the first four games after sustaining a calf injury in the second SANFL trial. McAdam made an instant impact when he returned to the field, kicking the first goal of the game in his SANFL Crows debut in Round Five. The 24-year-old’s best game was in Adelaide’s comeback victory over Norwood in Round Six, when he kicked three goals.

Tyson Stengle (traded from Richmond)
Stengle seamlessly transitioned into the SANFL Crows forward line in 2019, crumbing the tall forwards well. The 20-year-old has kicked a bag of four goals on three occasions: in Round One against Sturt, in Round Seven against Port Adelaide and last Saturday against Central District. The small forward has been an excitement machine, dribbling and bending goals all season. He’s sitting third overall in the SANFL goalkicking tally, with 25 goals.
