When Adelaide wingman Paul Seedsman was stretchered off Adelaide Oval with a suspected anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Round Three, fans were left devastated.
Many feared he would be joining defender Tom Doedee on the Crows’ long-term injury list, so when he made his return on Saturday night, just seven weeks later, the 27-year-old was left counting his blessings.
“[Brad] Crouchy drove me to the scan and when the doc called me to say my ACL was intact, we were both fist pumping in the car,” Seedsman told the media on Tuesday.
“It was like Christmas came early because you go from 12 months to a possible two or three weeks so I thought ‘oh, how good is this’.
“It ended up being seven weeks but I can’t complain because it’s a hell of a lot better than 12 months.”

Immediately following the injury, Seedsman assumed the worst.
“I remember when we thought it was an ACL... I had (lost) a finger guard and thought ‘oh well, I won’t need that, my finger will be right by next year’,” Seedsman said.
“But seven weeks later I was back out there...
“I’m just grateful to be back.”

Getting the win on Saturday night would have been the icing on the cake for Seedsman, but the Crows ultimately lost to West Coast by 12 points.
“That one definitely hurt, being five goals up at half-time against a great side like West Coast…in the end we probably wished the second quarter went for 60 minutes instead of 30,” Seedsman said.
“Our second quarter was probably the best quarter of football we’ve played all year, but you need to play four quarters.
“We made some costly errors that West Coast capitalised on.”
NOMINATED: Seed's goal of the year
It all surfaced in the Club’s match review on Monday afternoon.
“We addressed both the areas that need improvement and the positives,” Seedsman said.
“It’s important we don’t go back into our shell because the wins will come, we’re playing good enough football to win games.
“It’s just disappointing at the moment we’re not capitalising when we’re in a position to win them.”
