Adelaide utility Hugh Greenwood has selected his best basketball starting five from the Crows’ list, ahead of the NBA Conference Finals.
Greenwood played college basketball in New Mexico for four years before returning to Australia and signing a contract with the Perth Wildcats.
“We’d have a pretty decent starting five,” Greenwood said.
“Tom Doedee, Josh Jenkins, David Mackay and Andy Otten, who played state level.”
Greenwood also poked fun at several players he described as the “wannabes”.
“A few reckon they are better than they are,” Greenwood said.
“Paul Hunter, Eddie Betts, Reilly O’Brien… They reckon they follow it religiously but have no idea how to play it.
“With the NBA Playoffs, there’s a few experts floating around all of a sudden.”
Although Greenwood hopes for a long playing career in the AFL, he plans one day to return to the United States.
“My dream is to get back and coach college basketball,” he said.
“I love the development aspect and helping kids get to where they want.
“My partner is American and she’ll want to get back.”
A big fan of the Denver Nuggets, Greenwood gave his opinion on the greatest of all time debate.
“Lebron (James) has been impressive, but (Michael) Jordan is the GOAT (greatest of all time),” he said.
