The Adelaide Crows have teamed up with children from a special needs school in Taperoo to support Toyota’s involvement in Planet Ark’s National Tree Day.
National Tree Day is this Sunday July 27, but the Adelaide Crows will be at the MCG battling it out against Collingwood, so the players are out in force today at the Adelaide West Special Education centre to support this significant environmental cause.
The Adelaide Crows, led by Toyota ambassadors Nathan van Berlo, Rory Sloane and Patrick Dangerfield, have supported National Tree Day for a number of years, are rolling up their sleeves, getting their hands dirty and planting hundreds of trees across Adelaide.
Crows captain and proud Toyota ambassador Nathan van Berlo said it was a wonderful community program to inspire Australia’s next generation to get into nature, and grow and help preserve the environment.
“Every tree we plant on National Tree Day or Schools Tree Day has a positive impact on the future of our planet and helps to preserve the current environment,” van Berlo said.
Each year more than 200,000 people take part in National Tree Day across 3000 planting sites.
Since it began, National Tree Day, along with Schools Tree Day, has been responsible for helping communities across Australia plant more than 20 million trees, grasses and shrubs across 40,000 sites by three million volunteers.
The Adelaide Crows are committed to supporting the community driven National Tree Day which is also supported by the Club’s major partner Toyota.
As part of its global commitment to sustainability, Toyota has sponsored Planet Ark’s National Tree Day for the past fifteen years.
“Toyota has a long tradition of supporting Australian communities to globally improve the environment so we are looking forward to digging in to do our bit for National Tree Day this year. Our staff have their shovels ready to support this great cause and give something back to our community,” Toyota Central Regional Manager Robert Nunan said.
Planet Ark is calling on all Australians to get involved for the environment, their community and themselves. The community can get involved by attending a public site run by a council or landcare group. Alternatively individuals can organise their own personal activity in their garden or balcony or even on a local nature strip if local council allows.
Locals can get involved in National Tree Day National Tree Day (Sunday, 27 July) and Schools Tree Day (Friday, 25 July) by visiting Treeday.planetark.org or by contacting their local Toyota dealership.
