Star Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff has claimed the AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year following her outstanding 2024 campaign.

Marinoff polled votes in every game, including perfect 10s in Weeks Six, Seven and Eight, to finish with 91 votes, ahead of North Melbourne pair Jasmine Garner (79) and Ashleigh Riddell (77).

The AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year is an award voted by the AFLW senior coaches on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after each home and away game, acknowledging outstanding effort to an individual player in a season.

The 26-year-old was named Crows Co-Captain alongside Sarah Allan at the beginning of what has been a career-best season.

Marinoff averaged a League-high 30.4 disposals and 12.4 tackles aswell as a career-high 6.5 clearances this season.

She also became the first AFLW player to reach 2000 career disposals in Week Seven.

AFL Coaches Association CEO Alistair Nicholson congratulated Marinoff on the achievement.

“Ebony has performed to an incredibly high level this season to win her first AFL Coaches Association AFLW Champion Player of the Year Award, to poll votes in every match and three perfect tens is an amazing effort," Nicholson said.

"The coaches have a unique perspective on what succeeds in each of the games which combined with the thought that goes into allocating the votes makes this one of the most prestigious of all the individual Awards.

“Ebony should be very proud to receive this Award from the coaches, congratulations Ebony.”

Crows Senior Coach Matthew Clarke said he was proud to see Marinoff recognised by opposition coaches.

“Ebony is such an important player and leader for us and very deserving of recognition for what has been an outstanding season so far,” Clarke said.

“Her consistency has been impressive, and she works extremely hard to improve herself and her teammates.

“We know that what drives Ebony most is team success and we are excited to see her continue her great form in the upcoming finals series.”
