Adelaide accepts Izak Rankine’s conduct against Brisbane’s Brandon Starcevich constitutes rough conduct however, the Club will argue his actions were careless rather than intentional.
The Club, and in particular Rankine, want to emphasise their contrition and acceptance of wrongdoing ahead of tonight’s AFL Tribunal hearing.
The AFL’s Match Review Officer charged him with rough conduct, which was considered intentional with high contact and severe impact, at the Gabba on Sunday.
Crows Head of Football Adam Kelly said a remorseful Rankine would enter a guilty plea.
“While Izak had no intention of making head high contact that resulted in the injury, it obviously did occur and that is not being contested,” Kelly said.
“We believe however that a careless grading is more befitting of the incident.”
