The Adelaide Crows Foundation has released its Community Impact Report which highlights the positive social impact of its community programs on children and youth in 2023. 

A for-purpose organisation, the Adelaide Crows Foundation delivers evidence-based health, education and inclusion services to support disadvantaged children and youth to reach their full potential.

Last year was the Foundation’s 18^th year supporting the South Australian community and in doing so, recorded its most impactful year to date with over 20,000 children and youth accessing its programs and services.

The Foundation’s community programs are underpinned by four pillars that empower children in need, and are aligned to health, education and Aboriginal inclusion. 

The five community programs outlined in the report are Open Parachute, STEMfooty, Kuwa Circles, Crows on Country and Crows Care.

The Highlights:

• Over 20,000 children and youth accessed the Foundation’s programs.
  
  
• 57 schools used Foundation programs year-round.
  
  
• The Open Parachute program was launched in partnership with the Sebastian Foundation and engaged more than 16,000 students and 30 schools.
  
  
• The STEMfooty program was taught in 30 schools identified on the Department for Education’s Disadvantage Index and to more than 3,100 students, with 63 per cent speaking English as a second language.
  
  
• 80 per cent of participants in the Kuwa Circles program transitioned into employment or education and training pathways.
  
  
• 600 First Nation children participated in the Crows on Country program across three communities in the far west and four communities in the APY Lands.
  
  
• 500 match day tickets were provided to children in foster, out of home and kinship care and over 1000 underprivileged children accessed inner sanctum training experiences.
  
  
• More than $194,000 was spent with Aboriginal-owned and operated businesses.
  
  
• More than 1000 pairs of football boots were provided to disadvantaged families. 

 Adelaide Crows Foundation Chairperson Kate Thiele said 2023 was a year of significant progress for the Foundation and its programs. 

“Last year marked a significant milestone for the Adelaide Crows Foundation, as our evidence-based programs experienced an astonishing 300 per cent growth compared to the previous year,” Thiele said.

“This expansion has been further bolstered by our focus into childhood mental health and Aboriginal employment initiatives, laying a robust foundation to propel our mission forward. 

“Over the next five years, our strategic vision aims to empower and uplift the lives of more than 100,000 young South Australians, paving the way for a brighter and more promising future.”

Crows CEO Tim Silvers said the positive social impact of the Foundation was an important part of the Club’s wider strategic vision.

“The Foundation plays a key role in allowing the Club to give back to the community and positively impact the lives of local children and youth,” Silvers said. 

“Our strategic agenda has a strong focus on inclusion and diversity and the Foundation’s community programs are aligned to our priority areas of health, education and First Nation.

 “It’s pleasing to see the positive impact of our work over the past year, and we look forward to helping even more children and youth in the future.”
