Coach Brenton Sanderson says he expects forward Jason Porplyzia to be fit for Saturday's clash with Fremantle at AAMI Stadium.

Porplyzia was substituted at half-time of Adelaide's narrow win over Essendon on Sunday night after landing heavily on his back/shoulder in a marking contest late in the second quarter.

But Sanderson said the star forward hadn't sustained any serious damage.

“Porps just had some bruising in his shoulder, which we didn’t want to risk," Sanderson said.

"We brought him back across (to the bench) at half-time to have one more check, but we had Richard Tambling sitting there ready to go.

"I’ll think Porps will be be fine for next week though. It’s not a major, long-term thing I wouldn’t have thought.”
