Adelaide duo Danielle Ponter and Niamh Kelly have been recognised as finalists for the 2023 Rebel AFLW Goal of the Year.
The pair made up two of Adelaide’s six nominations for the award this season, the most of any Club.
Ponter made headlines back in Round Two for her incredible long-range effort in the Crows’ 29-point win over Richmond at Ikon Park.
Attending a centre bounce in the second quarter, the mercurial forward won a clearance and quickly sent her team forward.
The ball then took a fortunate bounce, clearing a line of players, before trickling over the goal line, sparking a Cristiano Ronaldo inspired celebration from the 23-year-old.
Kelly put forward her nomination during Adelaide’s Round Seven win over the Western Bulldogs at Norwood Oval.
Receiving the ball in the middle of the ground, the Irishwoman gave a handball to midfielder Anne Hatchard, before quickly following up and getting the ball back.
She then showcased her trademark speed, running past multiple Bulldogs defenders to get within scoring range, before settling herself and producing a memorable finish.
The pair are joined by Richmond’s Caitlin Greiser as the three finalists for 2023.
Voting is now open for the 2023 Rebel AFLW Goal of the Year and the overall winner will be selected by the AFLW All Australian Committee (counted as nine votes) and by public voting (counted as one vote).
