Adelaide co-captain Rory Sloane will have an eye injury assessed to determine if the midfielder will take on Collingwood in Saturday's crucial encounter at Adelaide Oval.

Sloane flew into Adelaide on Monday afternoon with his teammates after he failed to finish Sunday's 10-point loss to West Coast in Perth with blurred vision.

"He'll get assessed later on today," Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs told reporters.

"Typical 'Sloaney', he's up and about.

"He was trying to get back on when I was on the bench.

"He's got a bruise and a bit of a black eye, but hopefully he'll be OK.

"With a short turnaround, hopefully he's going to be right (to face Collingwood) because he's an important player and he played really well yesterday."

The Crows will be sweating on Sloane's fitness with their finals chances hanging in the balance.

Sitting outside the top eight on percentage, Jacobs said the Crows took plenty of heart out of their gutsy performance against the Eagles.

"We're not content with losing by 10 points to the reigning premiers, but it gives us a good platform to get going for Collingwood and (the Western) Bulldogs in the next two weeks," he said.

"We played a fair bit of footy that we liked yesterday, and if we can play like that again, I'm sure we can put pressure on Collingwood.

"If we win the next two games, we're going to put ourselves in a really strong position to play finals."

Jacobs played strongly in his first game since round two, finishing with 36 hitouts, in his 199th senior game.

He's hopeful of keeping his spot in the side ahead of Reilly O'Brien to bring up his 200-game milestone this weekend.

"I'd like to think so, but it's out of my control," Jacobs said.

"I was happy with my game and I was happy to contribute yesterday.

"Hopefully the coaches are happy and you do all the right things and it falls my way."
