Adelaide has recalled two Premiership players for its top-of-the-table clash with Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday afternoon.

Utility Stevie-Lee Thompson and defender Najwa Allen return to the line-up, after recovering from injuries.

Thompson has been sidelined for the past two matches after hurting her back against Essendon in Round Three, while Allen suffered a hamstring injury during Adelaide’s Round Two win against Richmond.

Brooke Tonon and Montana McKinnon have been omitted.

Crows Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper said Thompson and Allen had proved their fitness and the side would need their experience coming up against the reigning premier.

“In the end bringing in two experienced big game performers in Stevie Lee Thompson and Najwa Allen meant we had to find two players to go out - (two) who have been performing quite well, given the team is 5-0,” Harper said.

“Both Brooke and Montana are certainly the unlucky ones and will  definitely be called upon in future games, where their skill sets match up with the requirements for our opposition on any given week.”

Adelaide and Melbourne enter the match with unblemished records so far but the Demons are top of the ladder with superior percentage.

Harper expected a tough battle but believed the side had what it took to beat the best.

“Melbourne is obviously the strong favourite this week and has been in outstanding form,” Harper said.

“We are under no illusions of the immense challenge Melbourne presents on their home ground.

“Our team is genuinely looking forward to putting its best foot forward in what promises to be a terrific game.”

McKinnon, Tonon and recruit Brooke Smith have been named as the emergencies.

Adelaide takes on Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday at 2.35pm (ADST).
