A record four Adelaide players have been selected in the 2023 SANFL Team of the Year - the biggest representation of Crows players in the team since the club entered the State League in 2014.

Forward Lachlan Gollant, midfielders Harry Schoenberg and Jackson Hatley, as well as ruckman Kieran Strachan have been recognised for their outstanding State League form by being named in the 22-man squad.

Gollant has been a spearhead up forward for Adelaide’s SANFL team, booting 37 goals from 14 games to finish fourth in the Ken Farmer Medal tally.

The 21-year-old’s strong hands and accurate kicking were on display all season, in which he averaged 10.9 disposals, 4.6 marks and 2.6 goals a game.

Schoenberg played 11 SANFL games this season, where his ability to win the ball and impact around the ground did not go unnoticed.

The on-baller averaged 25.8 disposals, 4.6 marks, 5.2 tackles, 5.7 clearances, 5.3 inside 50s and 1.1 goals a game.

Hatley has been a consistent performer throughout the 2023 campaign, with his ability to play both inside and outside.

The midfielder amassed plenty of the ball, averaging 25.1 disposals, 4.7 marks, 6.6 tackles and 4.3 clearances over 16 games.

Hately led the SANFL in inside 50s in 2023, finishing with 87 for the season after averaging 5.4 a game.

Strachan was one of the League’s best rucks, always competing hard, rarely losing the hit-out battle and was also impactful around the ground in the 16 games he played.

The two-time Adelaide SANFL Best and Fairest averaged 16.2 disposals, 5.4 marks, 2.8 tackles, 2.8 clearances, 2.7 inside 50s and 34.8 hit-outs.

This marks the third consecutive year that Strachan has been selected in the SANFL Team of the Year, having been named in 2021 and 2022, while it’s the first time for Gollant, Schoenberg and Hately.

The Crows’ 2023 SANFL finals campaign kicks off with a clash against Sturt at Adelaide Oval on Sunday at 3.15pm.
