Adelaide Assistant Coach Nathan van Berlo says ending the 2023 campaign with a win will help set the Crows up for next year.

Despite being disappointed with how the season is concluding - with finals out of reach - van Berlo told the media on Friday players were focused on finishing with a victory.

“The boys’ heads are in the right space,” van Berlo said.

“We’ve got a hungry group and we’ve got to use this to make sure we finish off the year strongly tomorrow in Perth, and then go about our hard work in the off-season and pre-season.

“It was a missed opportunity, no doubt.

“But what I am hoping and what I know we are hoping as a Club is that this is a catalyst for us driving towards bigger and better things next year and beyond.”

The Eagles will bid farewell to three of their greats on Saturday, with Shannon Hurn, Luke Shuey and Nick Naitanui hanging up the boots.

But van Berlo was confident the Crows had the ability to deal with the occasion and push past the home-crowd’s emotion.

“The stadium will be packed out, as it was last year with Josh Kennedy finishing up,” van Berlo said.

“We have been there before but I daresay there will be even more with three favourites of their footy club (retiring).

“We are aware of it and we need to make sure we are on our toes to start well, absorb that pressure, enjoy the atmosphere, because it will be electric.

“We wish them well but tomorrow is about getting the job done from our point-of-view.”

Adelaide made three changes ahead of its clash with the Eagles on Saturday night, with Lachlan Gollant, Patrick Parnell and Luke Pedlar coming in for Rory Sloane, Shane McAdam (injured) and Riley Thilthorpe (omitted).

Thilthorpe has, however, is on the emergencies list and will be named as the Crows' substitute.

Van Berlo said Gollant, who has kicked 16 goals across the past four SANFL matches, had worked hard to earn a recall.

“Riley will come over to Perth with us and the intent is that he will play that (sub) role,” van Berlo said.

“He’ll still play an important role for us.

“What we have seen in more recent times is Lachie Gollant has been banging the door down and demanding an opportunity at AFL level.

“He (Gollant) has been playing out of his skin and deserves his opportunity.”

Adelaide takes on West Coast at Optus Stadium at 7.40pm (ACST).
